I made this for my mum’s birthday, but I can’t help noting what an excellent cake it would make for a man. It can be hard decorating manly cakes – chocolate cages are an excellent option I find, I resorted to them for the Surf Board Cake, I love how diverse they are – you can pipe the chocolate into whatever pattern you like! Even writing or drawings, imagine caricatures! That would be cool. They also look totally stylish. I’m a big fan in case you can’t tell.
This is the ideal indulgent chocolate dessert. Its not fussy to make yet looks rather sophisticated. In fact its actually quite quick to make! The recipe does call for “several hours or over night” in the fridge but mine had about one or two in the freezer and was fine. I made it for a last minute dinner party and it went down a treat with ice cream.
I can’t stop kicking myself for not being able to get a decent photo! But hey, I can’t spend the day reminiscing on what could have been if I had a decent camera. Or any camera for that matter.
I wanted a way of sprucing my cheesecake up a bit. When I saw pictures of chocolate cages I knew I had hit on an excellent idea. I couldn’t find much information on using them with cheesecakes but I figured it must work the same way and it does. This is how I did it:
